PICTURE BOOK COVER REVEAL

Today we have a special cover reveal for the picture book, BELLA'S RECIPE FOR SUCCESS, by Ana Siqueira, illustrated by Geraldine Rodríguez (Beaming Books), coming out Summer 2021.

About the Book: Bella wants to find out what she's good at. But she quits everything she (barely) tries because she's a disastre. Her somersaults are like jirafas rolling downhill, her piano playing like elephant feet. When she decides to learn how to bake with her abuela, her first attempt at dulce de leche frosting looks like cocodrilo skin. She must learn it's okay to try again or she won't be good at anything.

Peppered with Spanish vocabulary and set in an intergenerational Latinx home, Bella's Recipe for Success will show all kids the value of practicing to learn a new skill, and that it's okay to make mistakes along the way.

About the Author:  Ana Siqueira is from Rio de Janeiro where she is an award-winning published author. Ana teaches Spanish to elementary children. Besides BELLA’S RECIPE FOR SUCCESS, - Beaming Books, Ana also published a book for the educational market El Pato Quiere Uvas. Ana loves being an Abuela and a Vovó. She lives in Florida with her Cuban husband.

About the Illustrator: Geraldine Rodríguez is a Mexican Illustrator and digital artist who enjoys telling stories through colors and lines. In addition to Bella's Recipe for Success, Geraldine is the illustrator of Cinco de Mayo and The Adventures of Samuel Oliver series.

About the Book: The Wright brothers were the first people ever to build and fly an airplane, doing what many people at the time didn’t think was possible. They fell in love with the idea of flying and taught themselves everything they needed to know to make their dream come true.

About the Author: Annette Whipple celebrates curiosity and inspires a sense of wonder in young readers while exciting them about science and history. She’s the author of several fact-filled children’s books including topics like flowers, insects, and Africa. The Laura Ingalls Wilder Companion: A Chapter-by-Chapter Guide (Chicago Review Press), Whooo Knew? The Truth about Owls (Reycraft Books), and The Story of the Wright Brothers (Rockridge Press) release in 2020. 1. I live close to Greenfield Village in Dearborn, MI, and enjoy the actors there that perform skits about the first flight and the brothers accomplishments. This book will be a joy to read.

    1. For adults, the book will be a quick read. However, I've learned most of us don't know much about Wilbur and Orville...so it's a great way to learn more. :)

  7. I have to read this book! My grandmother grew up in Dayton, Ohio and lived on the same hill as the Wright Brothers. She told me that every morning Wilbur Wright would walk by, doff his cap, and say, “Good morning, ?Miss Maggie.” After the Wright Brothers flew for the first time, they returned to Dayton and threw a big party. Granny said, “ Anyone who was anyone in Dayton was there, but nobody believed they had flown.”

  11. Congrats on the new book! The subject of my latest nonfiction PB met Orville Wright in Dayton when she was stationed there during WW2. He asked permission from her commander to meet her, because the local paper did an article about her defending her national swim titles. It's one of her favorite memories, having a famous visionary ask her about her own dreams. Of course, the Olympics were cancelled twice in '40 and again in '44, so she never got to compete.
