Nov. 29, 2018

We are so excited to announce the winner and runners up of our Kidlit411 banner contest! Our prompt was to either (1) re-interpret our original birds on the wire theme or (2) to express what Kidlit411 means to the creator. We received so many wonderful entries and are truly grateful for the time and dedication given by every one of the entrants. Congrats to all!

Each of our winners will have their website banner and Facebook cover image posted for a month in 2019, along with an Illustrator Spotlight. First and second place winners also get cash prizes. The judges were Elaine Kiely Kearns & Sylvia Liu

Here are the winners:

FIRST PLACE: Natalie Banker

© Natalie Banker
Natalie Banker wins $125, an Illustrator Spotlight, and her banner displayed on our website and Facebook group in January 2019.

We were captivated by her classic scene of two children enjoying books. Medium: digital. Visit her website:, follow her on Twitter and Instagram @NatalieMakesArt.

SECOND PLACE: Richard Cartwright

Richard Cartwright wins $75, an Illustrator Spotlight, and his banner displayed on our website and Facebook group in February 2019.

We loved the whimsical and magical feeling of this banner. Medium: digital. Visit his website: and follow him on Instagram: @richardwcartwright.

Our honorable mentions are listed in alphabetical order, unless we thought the banner would be more thematically appropriate for a specific month. We're so excited for all these wonderful ambassadors for Kidlit411.
