Picture Book Giveaway
We are pleased to host a giveaway of the picture book, Nature is a Sculptor: Weathering and Erosion, by Heather Ferranti Kinser (Millbrook Press), coming out on Sept. 5. Enter to win a copy via the Rafflecopter below!
About the Book: Glaciers, rivers, wind, and rain are a few of the elements that shape the landscape in powerful ways. They form features big and small―from grand canyons and enormous caves to smooth pebbles and fine grains of sand. Lyrical verse by Heather Ferranti Kinser introduces weathering, erosion, and deposition, and eye-catching photos provide a look at some of the world's geological marvels. Back matter gives more information about the processes that sculpt the landscape and highlights formations including Half Dome, a hoodoo, and basalt columns.
About the Author: Heather Ferranti Kinser writes at the intersection of story, poetry, and nature from her home on the San Francisco Peninsula. She’s a former technical editor who now spends her days writing small stories—to make a big difference for kids! In addition to Nature Is a Sculptor and Small Matters (both from Millbrook Press), she is the author of In a Cave (Gnome Road Publishing). Picture Book Giveaway 2
We are pleased to host a giveaway of the picture book, Girls on Wheels, by Srividhya Venkat, illustrated by Kate Wadsworth (Kokila Books) coming out on August 8. Enter to win a copy via the Rafflecopter below!
About the Book: Inspired by the skateboarding revolution in India, Girls on Wheels follows three friends who support one another through the ups and downs of learning to skateboard. Anila is on her way to her favorite place: the skate park. She longs to glide on her board and feel the thrill of catching air. But when she arrives, the ramp looks like a concrete sea monster! Fear creeps in, making her once-broken arm ache. But Sana’s smile and Damini’s laugh wrap Anila in courage. Her friends remind her that in skateboarding, sometimes you fall—but sometimes you fly!
About the Illustrator: Kate Wadsworth’s primary choice of wheels is a bike, and she spent her childhood riding around her hometown of Kailua, on the island of O‘ahu, Hawaii, where she currently lives and works as an illustrator and graphic designer. She earned her BFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, and she has worked with a variety of local and international clients, including Vans Triple Crown of Surfing and the Sony Open in Hawaii. Girls on Wheels is her first picture book. Learn more about Kate at katewadsworth.com and follow her on Instagram @wadsworthink.
