About the Book: Colonel Thomas S. Meacham had a slice of an idea that grew into a legen-dairy gift for President Andrew Jackson. Meacham created a wheel of cheese four feet in diameter, two feet thick, and weighing 1,400 pounds. After the cheese stood in the entrance hall of the White House for over a year, it began to smell. Before leaving office, the president decided to cut the cheese and give it away at a public reception. Ten-thousand people showed up! Afterward, all that was left was a BIG STINK!
About the Author: Cathy Stefanec Ogren grew up in a home filled with books. Her parents encouraged reading which also fueled her desire to write. Before becoming a full-time writer, Cathy was an elementary school teacher, working with second and third graders. Her last years in education were spent as school librarian where she was passionate about introducing new and diverse books to students. She believes in reading and writing books that children can use as magical tools to spark curiosity, imagination, and teach them about the world.
About the Illustrator: Lesley Breen is the illustrator of several picture books. Her artwork can be found on many products, including stationery collections, children’s games, toys and apps. Lesley draws and dreams by the ocean and beautiful Cape Cod where she lives with her family, her dog, her two cats, and a bunch of chickens. She loves learning about people, their experiences, and what they have contributed to the world.

The featured picture book sounds exciting and the two YA novels are on my must read list.
