Tell us about yourself and how you came to illustrate for children.

I’ve been creating art for forever! The very first picture that I can remember I drew in a Dr. Seuss book (Oops) when I was five. I’ve been wanting to illustrate my own books ever since. I’ve illustrated a couple self published books, but have taken a bit of a break to work on my own manuscripts.

Congratulations on your banner design! How did you approach this project?

For the banner I thought, “Birds! Yeah! That’ll work.” Ha! But seriously, well not too serious,  the critters on the wires around my own house, crows, mourning doves, and squirrels, they always looking like they have a party up there!

What is your preferred medium and style for illustration?

Lately I’ve been working with digital, but I love watercolor and a mixture of digital and watercolor. I also like to experiment with different mediums sometimes.

What projects are you working on now?

I’m currently working on a middle grade graphic novel about a dystopian robot society, a bit of City of Ember and Wild Robot on the Three Mile Island, add in some Chernobyl. Then, a YA a graphic novel about neurodivergence, cults, anomalies, and family drama. I’m also submitting picture book manuscripts to PB rising mentors, 15 of them, so fingers crossed?! That’s a lot… alright let’s go!

What is something most people don't know about you?

This is actually difficult to answer because I feel like people either know everything about me because I over share or they know nothing. Maybe… OK my in-laws break out in song randomly sometimes and they have encouraged me to be more musical, for better or for worse lol.
