We are pleased to host a giveaway of the middle grade novel, UMIJOO: THE WONDROUS TALE OF A CURIOUS GIRL AND HER JOURNEY UNDER THE SEA, by Casson Trenor, illustrated by Caia Koopman (Shark & Siren Press 2019).

About the book: Winner of the Nautilus Book Awards Gold Medal for middle-grade fiction, UMIJOO is the tale of a curious girl who, with the help of a little magic, journeys underwater to learn about the dangers facing our ocean directly from the creatures that call it home.  UMIJOO was written by ocean conservationist Casson Trenor, illustrated by pop surrealist Caia Koopman, and crafted to resonate with all ages. Through sharing a story of love, responsibility, and balance, UMIJOO aims to educate and inspire a new generation of ocean defenders. Visit www.umijoo.com to learn more!

About the Author: Casson Trenor has dedicated his life to improving the relationship between human beings and our oceans. He is a seasoned activist who uses powerful storytelling and science-based environmental realities to educate and inspire audiences around the world.

During the span of his conservation career, Casson has pursued illegal whalers through the icy waters of Antarctica, keynoted conferences for multinational banks, conducted record-setting beach cleanups to raise awareness of plastic waste, and spearheaded successful international campaigns to reform some of the world's largest seafood companies. In honor of his conservation leadership, Casson has received the TIME Magazine "Hero of the Environment" award, a US Congressional Commendation, and the "Ocean Protection Hero" award from the well-respected environmental organization Save Our Shores. In June 2019, the California State Senate passed a resolution in recognition of his work. Visit www.cassontrenor.comto get in touch!

About the Illustrator: Caia Koopman is a preeminent pop surrealism artist who has been featured in prominent galleries from California to Canada and France.
