About the Book: When Adèle gets her period for the first time, she also gets an unexpected surprise—the ability to see ghosts! Little did she know, she comes from a long line of mediums whose abilities appear during puberty.  And if seeing ghosts wasn't enough of a surprise, Adèle learns that not only can she interact with them, but apparently, they've been using her sister's car to get around the city for years! When the ghosts won't leave her alone, Adèle starts to get to know about them and their problems. Maybe helping them out will be just what she needs for an exciting winter break!

About the Author-Illustrator: Sophie Escabasse lives in Montreal with her husband and three children and their black cat, Terrence. Previously from Brooklyn, Sophie travels constantly and is thrilled to talk about her love of stories with school and bookstores. She has illustrated many books for middle-grade readers, including her bestselling graphic novel series Witches of Brooklyn. She has been a graphic novel lover for as long as she can remember, and she enjoys fun and expressive characters.

Picture Book Giveaway

We are pleased to host a giveaway of The Little Red Chair, by Cathy Stefanec Ogren, illustrated by Alexandra Thompson (Sleeping Bear Press), out now. Enter to win a copy via the Rafflecopter below.

About the Book:
When Mia sees a little red chair in an antique shop that’s just her size, it’s love at first “sit.” The two quickly become best friends and do everything together. She snuggles in it on cold winter nights. She daydreams in it on bright, sunny days. And it's the perfect throne for Mia on her birthday. As Mia grows older, the little red chair sees less of Mia who is involved with school and friends, but the little chair always waits for Mia. The day Mia leaves for college, she gives the chair a loving goodbye hug. Every tuft in the little red chair loses its fluff. When Mia’s parents move to a smaller house, the movers mistakenly put the chair in the attic hidden behind boxes. The little red chair desperately longs for someone to find it. Years come and go, but no one comes. Will someone find the little red chair?

About the Author: Cathy Stefanec Ogren is the author of the nonfiction picture book, PEW! The Stinky and Legen-Dairy Gift from Colonel Thomas S. Meacham. She believes in reading and writing books that children can use as magical tools to spark their curiosity and imagination and teach them about the world. She writes from her home in New Hampshire and enjoys reading lots of picture books in a cozy chair of her own.
