About the Author: Kristen Nordstrom is a writer and full-time public school teacher at a Title I STEAM Academy in California. She is passionate about connecting children to nature and the wonders of science through the Next Generation Science Standards, hands-on exploration, and AMAZING books! She has trained through the Lawrence Hall of Science and is a member of the National Science Teachers Association and the SCBWI.
About the Illustrator: Paul Boston grew up in the English countryside surrounded by nature. As a child he enjoyed learning the names of butterflies, moths, and birds around him. As an illustrator, his inspirations are 1950s children's books, antique maps and diagrams, 17th Century engravings, gothic art, and Japanese prints. He also illustrated My Little Golden Book about Airplanes.

- What: Submit a synopsis and first three chapters of a middle grade novel
- Who: un-agented, unpublished writers

I would enjoy reading and learning about how people have studied animals to improve inventions and help people.
